Today is World AIDS Day. Many constituents contact me to urge action on the global scourge of HIV and AIDS. I continue to stress to Douglas Alexander, the Secretary of State for International Development, that the people of Glasgow North want the UK Government to maintain its global leadership on this issue and meet its commitments to the world’s poorest people.
With 33 million people still living with HIV and AIDS worldwide, we must continue to act. I’m pleased that Douglas has committed to continuing the Government’s work on tackling poverty at home and abroad.
