Glasgow North MP, Ann McKechin joined the CEO of the German parent company, Röhm and Simon Bevis the local Managing Director of R-Biopharm Rhone Glasgow, for the opening of their brand new factory premises in the constituency. R-Biopharm Rhone Ltd, a bio tech company based in Glasgow North, opened a brand new factory premises in the constituency at the West of Scotland Science Park yesterday.
The company manufactures and sells diagnostic food safety kits and they are the biggest supplier of test kits for food and feed analysis in Europe.
Their products test for analysis of mycotoxins, micro-organisms and food adulterants. They also make kits which are used to test for antibiotics, BSE risk material, food adulterants, food allergens, hormones, and vitamins.
The company currently employs 180 people and is expanding. With its new factory premises it now has capacity for 350 members of staff.
Ann said: "I was pleased to join Managing Director Simon Beavis for the opening ceremony of the new factory premises in the West of Scotland Science Park, just off Maryhill Road. It is very encouraging to see the expansion of bio-tech industry in the constituency and I would like to congratulate R Biopharm Rhone on their success so far.
"These new factory premises allow the company to take on more staff and expand production. The prospect of more skilled jobs in the bio-tech industry is a welcome boost to our constituency and the city."
