I was back at Oran Place shreltered housing complex to meet with the resdients on 15 September. It was good to get back to Oran Place and meet the residents again. As usual they had a whole range of issues to discuss on local and national issues and I have taken up a few issues for them. It is always very interesting to meet with local residents and share ideas and opinions. I know that it is very important that residents feel they can speak to me about any issue they wish. I believe it is my duty to visit vulnerable constituents to ensure that they have the chance to speak to me and see someone in authority paying attention.
It is very reassuring to see that my constituents in sheltered housing are receiving good quality care and are very happy. The most rewarding part of my work as a Member of Parliament is getting something done for a local resident that improves the quality of their lives – sometimes this means acting directly myself and other times it means making sure that those who can help do help.
