On 21 September with my colleague, Patricia Ferguson MSP, I hosted an information and advice session at Maryhill Community Centre. A large number of organisations were there to offer advice and information including the Pension Service, Strathclyde Police, Glasgow Community Safety Services, Community Central Hall, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, local National Health Service organisations, Cube HA, Glasgow HA and Queens Cross HA, the Energy Saving Trust, the Healthy Living Centre, and the Maryhill Seniors’ Forum. Those who made it along to the session found the information and advice available at the various workshop stalls very useful. I will be producing a leaflet full of advice and information for pensioners and older people soon and I’ll make sure that those who missed out on the advice session get a copy. - Unfortunately, due to local post strikes and the subsequent backlog of mail, some people didn’t get the invitation to the event in time. As those who did come along found the session so useful and because others missed out, I will be organising a similar event in a few months time.
